Special

Year Written: 2025

You are not special. Trailing on believing there is a future for yourself, you commit to seeking goals that interest you. You go to Kalamazoo College, intending to major in music and hopefully create a career for yourself in which others will awe at. The first year was tough, writing essays and going through classes where you fall asleep midway in order to meet the prerequisites of your degree. When you make it back to your dorm, the heavy drowsiness on your shoulders push you to your bed. Then, you do everything again: music theory class, eat tacos for lunch, spanish II lab, quick chips break, play Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, eat pizza for dinner, practice the violin for what seemed like a few minutes but was actually three hours. Then at the end, you doze off into your dreams, where you can’t even see yourself in the mirror.

So, tell me then, what about any of this makes you special?
